Writing For The Internet

Always keep in mind when writing for the web, your readers will get bored easily. It is too easy to just move on to the next link than to wade through a bunch of uninteresting details in order to find what they are looking for. Keep your content fresh and entertaining. Keep in mind who you are targeting your content to. Are you trying to sell sell something or write an informative article on a popular or niche subject?

Break your writing up into short paragraphs and short sentences as much as possible. Save your work often, nothing is more exasperating than spending twenty minutes or so crafting a piece of work, than to have it lost because the power goes out or some other mishap. Do whatever research you need to come up with more ideas for your subject. Use the search engines but never copy and paste other peoples work or write it word for word.

Don't forget to edit your work. Read it over and see how it sounds. If it don't sound right to you then it probably won't to someone else. Don't bounce around from topic to topic, cover one aspect of your subject, then move on to the next. Don't forget, spell check, grammer check, use a word processer if you need to. Nothing makes an article fall flat on it's face quite like misspelled words and incorrect grammer.
